Bird House Building Program
Happiness is less bugs, attract Blue Birds of Happiness to your yard. One pair of bluebirds and their offspring can consume about 670,000 insects from your yard each summer. Besides that they are beautiful and sing like nightingales. They are worth their weight in gold.
On Sunday, February 28th from 1:00-3:00 bring your hammers once again and we will guide you through building a house for your feathered friends. Our bird houses can attract up to seven species of birds. You can choose what type of birdhouse you need for your location. We will provide all the information, materials, the pre-cut lumber and any help you need to construct your own bird house. Discover which bird species your yard will attract. Join the list of people who have taken our class and successfully attracted the Bluebirds to their yard. We will provide information on establishing and monitoring Bluebird houses. It’s a fascinating family fun. Watch your birds build their nest, incubate, hatch feed and nurture their young. We also supply a timetable on the bluebird’s development from nest building to the start of their second brood so you’ll know what to expect and look for.
Cost is members, $12 and non-members $15.
You must preregister for this class to insure houses for all (508-248-5516).
We can also provide you with bird houses. Readymade or as a do it yourself kit. Each kit is $12.00 or $15.00 completely built.
Remember that February is the time to erect bird houses, especially for the Blue Birds. They return from their southerly haunts earlier than you would expect. Don’t be caught without a house, when the birds are first scouting new sites for their spring housing needs.
