The Great Egg Hunt-Celebrating 28 years!

 Event: The Great Egg Hunt (non-profit fundraiser).
Place: Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary, 56 Capen Road, Route 20, Charlton, MA 01507

Date: Saturday, March 31st (Rain Date: Sunday, April 1st).
Time: 10-4

Description: 5,400 unique eggs are decorated to look like animals (frogs, butterflies, flowers, squirrels, elephants, lions….) and then hidden throughout the day along our 86 acres of trails. Come anytime during hunt hours. No rush. Find prize eggs. Live animals at the visitor’s center, face painting, balloons, Hunt Bunny, refreshments and more. Only $10 per family!

How the Egg Hunt takes place! There are 4 phases:

(1)Volunteers: Starting now we need help coloring and cutting out the animal pictures that are used to decorate the eggs! Sheets are available anytime in the visitor's center foyer. Just pick up as many as you want, take them home, and then bring them back. Great scout activity!  

(2)Volunteers: When the eggs arrive on March 23rd we need people to take the cases home to boil and dye them! We receive 15 cases each with 30 dozen eggs in them. It really goes quickly but we need around 15 people to volunteer in taking a case!

(3)Volunteers are then needed to help decorate eggs for the Great Egg Hunt which will take place day and night the week of March 26th at the Sanctuary’s visitor’s center, 56 Capen Road, Route 20, Charlton.  Throughout the week over 5,400 eggs are decorated to look like animals with the cutouts that were prepared months before.  It is great fun for individuals or groups ( NHS students, scouts, senior’s etc.).

(4)We also need folks to help on the day of the hunt (egg hiders, refreshment servers etc.). This event only takes place because of the help of volunteers.  Call Capen Hill to schedule your time for decorating or to help out on the day of the event.
